Original ‘Two Heads’ surrealist Oil on Panel by John Dixon, exhibited in 1938.

Surrealist oil on panel by John Dixon (20th Century) representing a feminine face in two versions. One in the Renaissance style and the other in an 1930’s Art Deco fashion. The painter has used the techniques and the style of the Renaissance to paint this highly original and decorative painting: oil on panel, typical Renaissance landscape background, wood frame, Gothic writing signature followed by the latin ‘fecit’ word (‘made by’). The small aging defaults of the painting and the wood frame reinforce its highly decorative aspect and may have been voluntary chosen by the artist to enhance the Renaissance patina of the painting.

Exhibited at the « Salon des Artistes français » in 1938.
