Set of Six Original Charlotte Perriand Les Arcs Chairs, France, 1960’s

Designed by Charlotte Perriand for Les Arcs ski resort in France in the early 60’s, these chairs feature cognac saddle leather sling seats on tubular black metal frames. In her 1929 manifesto, Wood or Metal, Perriand wrote « the Future will favour materials » that wear effortlessly, like metal. « If we use metal in conjunction with leather for chairs, » she wrote, « we get a range of wonderful combinations and new aesthetic effects. » These chairs are unrestored and in their original condition. The leather has acquired a beautiful patina from years of age and use. A picture of each of the chairs is provided. These chairs have not been restored. The leather has wear which is consistent with age and use. Same with the metal frames with some signs of wears to the black painting. One chair has 2 flat head rivets reinforcement on the leather.
