André Margat est un artiste français, largement connu pour ses représentations animalières. Il appartient notamment au “Groupe des Douze”, une association d’artistes créée en 1932 dont le but est de présenter l’art animalier français lors d’expositions et de chaque année mettre à l’honneur un artiste.
Cette œuvre est réalisée en laque peinte sur fond or, une technique complexe qui marque la virtuosité de l’artiste. Par ailleurs, cette œuvre témoigne d’un travail poussé d’observation de la nature.
