Beautiful reclining female nude by Micao Kono (1900-1979).
Oil on paper pasted on canvas. Signed and dated XXXIII (33) in red bottom left.

Miçao Kono was a Japanese artist who came to Paris in the early 1920s. He painted in oils and watercolors, and also did a number of etchings. Micao Kono became famous with his nude portraits combining traditional Japanese style with the modernity of the Art Deco. His paintings were very popular in the Art Deco interiors. They were romantic and sensuous; his work is close to his Japanese fellow countryman Foujita. Kono’s technique was unusual as he used heavy white over which her painted his subject in pastel colors. Either by design or by the passage of time the white paint always shows signs of cracking.

Pair of Sconces by Peter Hamburger for Knoll, 1970s.A pair of sconces created by Peter Hamburger (b. 1941) for Knoll. An acrylic resin rod is masking the wire and making it almost invisible. Chrome reflector masking the bulb. The lights are fixed to the wall with two attachment tabs. Entirely original (reflectors, chrome, rods, switches). Rare and timeless 1970s model. Wiring to the European standard. Measures: Total height 120 cm, reflector diameter 17 cm, depth 14 cm.
Note: A second identical pair but 30 cm shorter is available.

Très rare sculpture en bois (bois de cerisier) d'une Africaine par Karl Hagenauer (1898-1956). Le buste est taillé en profil, réalisé dans une seule pièce de bois sur une base ovale plate en laiton. Cette pièce a été sculptée vers 1930. Signée sous la base "Hagenauer Wien handmade" avec le cachet WHW. Très bonne condition. Very rare wooden sculpture (cherry tree wood) of an African lady by Karl Hagenauer (1898-1956). it is carved as a profile, made out of a single piece of wood on a flat oval brass base. This piece was carved circa 1930. Signed under the base "Hagenauer Wien handmade" with the stamp WHW. Very good condition. -

Iconique lampe de table orientable moderniste dessinée par Jacques Adnet (1900-1984) pour Baccarat. L'originalité de cette lampe est qu'elle est composée de deux parties indépendantes : un socle métallique circulaire et une boule de verre qui porte la lampe et peut être orientée dans de multiples positions. Ancienne édition datant d'environ 1930. Bon état mais la base était généralement nickelée, celle-ci soit n'était pas nickelée soit l'a entièrement perdue. Deux petits chocs en dessous de la base de la boule en verre - voir photos (non visibles lorsque la boule est en place sur sa base). Câblée pour une utilisation européenne. Un abat-jour moderne est fourni. Remarque : Certains pensent que ce modèle n'a pas été conçu par Adnet mais par Georges Chevalier, mais l'opinion dominante et l'attribution la plus courante revient à Adnet. Pour plus d'informations sur Jacques Adnet, cliquez ici. Iconic modernist orientable table lamp designed by Jacques Adnet (1900-1984) for Baccarat. The originality of this lamp is that it is made of 2 independent parts: a circular metal base and a glass ball which bears the lamp and can be oriented in multiple positions. Ancient edition dating from circa 1930. Good condition however the base was generally nickel plated, this one was either not nickel plated or lost it entirely. 2 small shocks below the base of the glass ball - see pictures (not visible when the ball is in place on its base). Wired for European use. A modern lampshade is provided. Note : Some believe it was not designed by Adnet but by Georges Chevalier however the dominating opinion and most common attribution is Adnet's. For more information about Jacques Adnet, click here.
