Set of Six Mid-Century Modern Chairs by Giancarlo Piretti, Italy, 1970s.
Set of six chairs by Giancarlo Piretti, Model Nr 106 designed in 1967, Italy, Castelli edition. This model is no longer manufactured. Chair back and chair seat made of thermoformed/molded plywood. Veneer has been restored, Very nice light honey color. Legs and frame made of steel and aluminium. These chairs are very comfortable and can be stacked. Another set of six identical chairs is available with a slightly lighter veneer.
Measures: H 77 cm; Seating H 48 cm; L 56 cm; P 48 cm.

Rare and Exceptional 1970s Knoll Pair of Sconces by Peter HamburgerA pair of sconces created by Hamburger (1941) for Knoll. An acrylic resin rod is masking the wire and making it almost invisible. Chrome reflector masking the bulb. The lights are fixed to the wall with two attachment tabs. Entirely original (reflectors, chrome, rods, switches). Rare and timeless 1970s model. Wiring to the European standard.

Très rare sculpture en bois (bois de cerisier) d'une Africaine par Karl Hagenauer (1898-1956). Le buste est taillé en profil, réalisé dans une seule pièce de bois sur une base ovale plate en laiton. Cette pièce a été sculptée vers 1930. Signée sous la base "Hagenauer Wien handmade" avec le cachet WHW. Très bonne condition. Very rare wooden sculpture (cherry tree wood) of an African lady by Karl Hagenauer (1898-1956). it is carved as a profile, made out of a single piece of wood on a flat oval brass base. This piece was carved circa 1930. Signed under the base "Hagenauer Wien handmade" with the stamp WHW. Very good condition. -

Beautiful reclining female nude by Micao Kono (1900-1979). Oil on paper pasted on canvas. Signed and dated XXXIII (33) in red bottom left. Dimension: 46 x 38cm (without frame), 52 x 44cm (with frame) Miçao Kono was a Japanese artist who came to Paris in the early 1920s. He painted in oils and watercolors, and also did a number of etchings. Micao Kono became famous with his nude portraits combining traditional Japanese style with the modernity of the Art Deco. His paintings were very popular in the Art Deco interiors. They were romantic and sensuous; his work is close to his Japanese fellow countryman Foujita. Kono’s technique was unusual as he used heavy white over which her painted his subject in pastel colors. Either by design or by the passage of time the white paint always shows signs of cracking. Bougeoirs en verre également et fausses bougies cachant les douilles des lampes. Câblée pour une utilisation européenne. Stunning pair of sconces by Maison Baguès (Paris). This model with the parrots is iconic and made Maison Baguès famous and successful. They are ancient : circa 1930's-1940's and in good condition. Two lights per sconce. Decorative motifs (parrots, leaves) are made of molded glass attached to a golden metal mount. Candle holders made of glass as well and fake candles hiding the lamp sockets. Wired for European use. -
Superbe pendule par le célèbre horloger Hour Lavigne et le céramiste Jean Léon Mayodon (1893-1967). Objet composé d'une pendule en partie centrale Hour Lavigne montée sur un plat en céramique réalisé par Mayodon. La pendule a été conçue pour être montée sur un mur, elle peut aussi être utilisée comme pendule de table une fois posée sur un présentoir. Le décor représente une scène de danse de couples à l'Antique typique des années 1940 et 1950. Le décor est réalisé en émaux polychromes noir, rouge, vert, complété de rehauts d'or. Les aiguilles et le cadran sont en laiton doré. Le monogramme de Jean Léon Mayodon est présent en partie inférieure du décor et la signature d'Hour Lavigne est présente sur le mécanisme. Le mouvement de la pendule est mécanique (peut durer 7 jours) et est en état de fonctionnement. Jean Léon Mayodon a réalisé un modèle similaire pour le joaillier Cartier à New York dans les années 1950 où l'on peut retrouver un décor en émail et or de femmes nues dansantes. Hour Lavigne est un célèbre horloger renommé pour ses mouvements mécaniques hauts de gamme. Mayodon est un des plus célèbres céramistes français des années 1940, 1950 connu pour ses représentations néoclassiques. Diamètre : 26cm
Stunning clock by famous clockmaker Hour Lavigne and ceramist Jean Léon Mayodon (1893-1967) This clock is made of a central clock by Hour Lavigne mounted on a plate realized by J.L. Mayodon. This clock is designed to be mounted on a wall but can also be used as a table clock if put on a stand. The decorative motif depicts an Antique-style scene of dansing couples typical from the 1940's 1950's. The decoration is executed in polychrome enamel, featuring black , green and red colours with gold accents. The hands and dial are made of gilded brass. The plate is signed by Jean Léon Mayodon's monogram located in the lower part. Hour Lavigne signature appears inside the clock mechanism. The clock movement is mechanical (around 7 days) and in working order. Hour Lavigne and Jean Léon Mayodon created a similar clock for Cartier in New York around 195o. Hour Lavigne is a famous clockmaker renowned for the quality of its high end mechanical movements. LAFUGIE Léa (1890-1972), Portrait d’une jeune Cambodgienne, huile sur panneau, 33 x 23,5 cm Léa Lafugie est une peintre française née à Paris, connue pour ses portraits et paysages issus de ses voyages. Elle étudie à l’Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, puis à l’Académie des Beaux-Arts et commence sa carrière en exposant au Salon des Artistes Indépendants. Passionnée depuis son plus jeune âge par les récits de voyages et d’aventures,elle décide de partir dès 1924 en Afrique du Nord, puis en 1925 en Asie. Elle séjourne en Inde, en Birmanie, au Tibet, puis dans la péninsule indochinoise et en extrême Orient. Durant ces voyages, elle ne cesse de peindre et de représenter ce qu’elle découvre et les personnes qu’elle rencontre. Ce portrait a été réalisé lors d’un voyage au Cambodge, il représente une jeune fille concentrée sur son ouvrage. De ce portrait émane une grande douceur et sérénité. C’est une huile sur panneau de bois qui provient de la célèbre collection Jean-Paul Gérard-Pau, signée en bas à gauche. Datation : entre 1925-1930, dates où Léa Lafugie s’est rendue en Asie. She stayed in India, Burma, Tibet, the Indochinese peninsula, and the Far East. Throughout these travels, she continued to paint the sights and people she encountered. This oil painting on a wooden panel was painted during a journey to Cambodia. It depicts a young girl focused on her work.
