Superbe huile sur carton d'André Maire (1898-1984) représentant deux femmes vietnamiennes sous des arbres flamboyants. Les peintures à l'huile d'André Maire sont beaucoup plus rares que ses gouaches sur papier, celle-ci étant de plus assez grande. Superbes couleurs et sensualité. Le tableau porte le cachet de l'atelier au dos. André Maire est l'un des "Peintres Voyageurs" français les plus célèbres. Il a beaucoup voyagé en Europe, en Afrique et en Extrême-Orient à partir de 1910 notamment en Inde, à Madagascar, au Cambodge et au Vietnam. This one is as well quite large. Superb colors and sensuality. It bears the workshop stamp at the back. André Maire is one of the most famous French "Peintres Voyageurs" who travelled extensively in Europe, Africa and the Far East from 1910 in particular to India, Madagascar, Cambodgia and Vietnam. Léa LAFUGIE est une artiste peintre qui a étudié à l'École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, puis à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Elle a voyagé à travers l’Asie se faisant surtout connaître pour ses portraits ainsi que ses paysages qu’elle retranscrit dans ses peintures. Elle commença par étudier à l’École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, puis à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Dotée d’une nature aventureuse et curieuse, c'est en 1925 que l’artiste décide de voyager en Asie, dont la Chine, l’Inde, le Japon et la péninsule indochinoise. Elle y peindra des paysages ainsi que des portraits lors de ses séjours. Cette aquarelle représente une mère et son poupon Ta Moc et met en avant une atmosphère calme et bienveillante par le côté maternelle qui s’en dégage. She began by studying at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris, then at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Endowed with an adventurous and curious nature, it was in 1925 that the artist decided to travel to Asia, including China, India, Japan and the Indochinese peninsula. She painted landscapes and portraits during her stays. This watercolor represents a mother and her baby Ta Moc and highlights a calm and caring atmosphere by the maternal side that emerges. On the reverse listing of the hand of the artist: "This watercolor signed HP28 is my original Bauhaus era." Signed Pfeiffer with another entry on the lower right: "A former student of Paul Klee".
Henri Pfeiffer joined the Bauhaus at the age of 17 where he became a student of Paul Klee. He created many abstract works with a renewed vision of the use and perception of colors. Very young, he studied intensively the chemistry of pigments with his uncle. In 1933 when the Bauhaus was forbidden he was arrested by the Gestapo but he succeed to be released with the help of his parents. He then abandonned painting but still got passionate with colors becoming a famous ophtalmologist specialized in the perception of colors. He wrote a book about the subject in the 1950’s. This early genius artist, who produced an avant-garde painting work with a fascinating research on colors, is a real discovery. His history and his journey from art to science with the continuous obsession of color perception understanding is fascinating and very consistent with the ethical and philosophical Bahaus principles which never separated art from science and industy.

Dimensions : avec cadre : 54,5x63x2cm, sans cadre : 38x46cm. Mzimou est un terme générique désignant un esprit ou une divinité favorable dans la région du lac Tanganika à qui la population locale avait l'habitude de présenter des offrandes pour se protéger notamment des maladies. Ivan da Silva Bruhns a réinventé l'art du design de tapis dans les années 20 et l'a adapté au style art déco. Son travail est influencé par les tapis géométriques ethniques berbères (Afrique du Nord, Maroc notamment). A partir de 1925, il dirige une galerie rue de l'Odéon à Paris puis à partir de 1930 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Il réalise de nombreux tapis pour les ambassades, les monuments nationaux, les plus grands paquebots comme le Normandie, l'Ile de France etc. De la célèbre Exposition de 1925 est né un grand maître de l'art du tapis largement reconnu. De 1922 à 1936, il travaille beaucoup pour Jules Leleu et ses travaux de décoration de luxe pour des clients prestigieux. Ses huiles sont rares et très recherchées. Mzimou is generic term for a favourable spirit or divinity in the lake Tanganika region to whom local population used to present offerings to get protection in particular from illnesses. Ivan da Silva Bruhns reinvented the art of carpet design in the 20's and adapted it to the art deco style. His work is influenced by the geometric berber ethnic carpets (North Africa, Morocco in particular). From 1925, he runs a gallery rue de l’Odéon in Paris then from 1930 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. He produced numerous carpets for embassies, national monuments, the greatest steamers like the Normandy, the Ile de France etc. From the famous 1925 Exhibition a great master of the carpet art was born and widely recognized.
